About the event
The miracle of nature
You've probably seen them before: bees and bumblebees buzzing around, busy flying from flower to flower.
I remember the first time I looked at a bumblebee and wondered how this little teddy bear could fly with its tiny wings. What a miracle, what energy!
The best known is the honeybee, which is capable of travelling great distances, covering some 40,000 km for 1 kg of honey, equivalent to a trip around the world.
Less well known, wild solitary bees have a much smaller range in terms of flight distance and often only need nectar from a single species and colour of flower.
It is mainly solitary bees, but also bumblebees, that are struggling to survive due to the lack of nectar-producing plants, so sow as much diversity as possible!
