Spelt is a primary cereal, which means that it is not as refined as ordinary wheat. Spelt is a winter wheat that is sown in October and not harvested until August of the following year. Spelt therefore stays in the ground for longer, which means that it does not need to be fertilised much, as it grows too fast and the ears fall off easily.

Thanks to this slow growth and the better quality of the gluten, spelt is very well tolerated by almost all horses (

and humans).

Organic raw spelt from Bio-Ron

Our organic spelt currently comes from Germany and is grown in slightly poorer limestone soils. It is therefore slightly less energetic than the conventional variant, but slightly better in terms of mineral trace elements.

Bio-Ron always delivers pure white spelt, with a minimum of dust, weeds and straw particles.

Fortunately, we have once again managed to find some fine lots with very good bovis values.

Of course, as you would expect from Bio-Ron, it is free of additives and very well cleaned of straw and impurities.
