Young Living founder D. Gary Young has travelled the world in search of natural solutions to life's challenges. For example, he pioneered the large-scale development of lavender in Provence to bring the world the highest quality lavender essential oil in many products. It was over 20 years ago that Gary, intrepid as he was, travelled to the remote mountains of China. There he met Dr Songqiao Chao, who introduced him to the intense red colour of goji berries. Much appreciated by the locals for its incredible taste and properties, Gary soon realised the benefits of this berry when he saw it. He learned that Chinese biochemists and the Ningxia Institute of Nutrition had analysed the goji berry. They had discovered that the goji berry was one of the most nutrient-rich foods on the planet! Gary was convinced and wanted to introduce this incredible fruit to the world. Today, China is known as the place of origin of the goji berry, the place where this fruit contains the greatest quantities of active ingredients and nutrients. And this bright red berry is now famous the world over for its unique nutritional virtues.

What is it?

The goji berry (Lycium barbarum) is the fruit of a deciduous shrub that grows between 1 and 3 metres tall. Zeaxanthin is a pigment responsible for its brilliant red colour. It is an excellent source of protein and fibre. This is why it has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. Young Living's goji berry farm in China is located in a little corner of paradise. It is rigorously tested for pesticides, heavy metals and other potential contaminants. The berries are harvested and washed on site. It's a true Seed to Seal® story. Goji berries are also known as lyciet berries. The name goji comes from the Chinese 枸杞 (gǒuqǐ).

When a product is out of stock, I advise you to order it anyway, it usually only takes 10 days. If you wait, there's a good chance that it will also be out of stock next time. My stock is not very large, I do this on purpose to maintain quality. With the exception of the 20kg bags, these are delivered quarterly to order.
