OKAPI Senior Support can be given as a supplement to the daily ration as soon as the horse reaches the age of approximately 18 years or as soon as individual signs appear indicating a change in nutritional needs related to age.
There is no need to limit the duration of feeding. Regular administration promotes a continuous supply of high-quality amino acids and other selected nutrients, specially tailored to the needs of older horses.
It is important to regularly check the ration and adjust it to the horse's current needs, particularly in the event of changes in its health, behaviour or performance level.
How to give OKAPI Senior Support?
OKAPI Senior Support can simply be mixed with a handful of soaked hay pellets, incorporated into concentrated feed, or sprinkled on moistened hay.
As some horses find the taste unusual at first, it is recommended to start with a small amount and gradually increase to the recommended daily amount.
How do I calculate the appropriate dose for my horse?
To calculate the appropriate dose of OKAPI Senior Support, you can follow these steps:
Determine the horse's weight: the horse's weight can be determined either by weighing it, measuring it with a tape measure, or using applications such as the BCI application from our partner Sanoanimal (available free of charge on Google Play and the Apple Store):
Follow feeding recommendations: general recommendations for OKAPI products refer to a 600 kg horse.
The recommended daily amount is 2 ml (1 measuring spoon = 15 g).
Adjust the dose: if the horse weighs 300 kg, for example, the dose must be adjusted accordingly. The calculation is as follows: daily dose (30 g) / 600 kg × horse's weight (300 kg) = 15 g daily ration.
This calculation method allows the appropriate quantity to be determined.
- 900 g is sufficient for approximately 1 to 2 months - 1400 g is sufficient for approximately 1.5 to 3 months
