How does the horsefly trap work?
The horsefly trap captures fallow deer by deceiving female fallow deer. The black ball is heated by the sun and moves slightly in the wind.
The horsefly is attracted to this moving heat source because it "thinks" it is prey for it.
It lands on the ball, stings itself, then flies upwards (towards the light) in disappointment. It then ends up in the collection bin via the trap.
