Complementary food with an antioxidant effect. Gastrointestinal support for optimal nutrient absorption.
Natuly Diatomaceous earth
History
Silicon is an essential element of human life. It goes by many different names, such as silica, silica gur, silicon (dioxide), silicea, E551 and dissolves in water in the form of silicic acid.
Almost all the names refer to silicon/silica, which, after iron, is the most common element on earth.
In addition to its use in food, it has many other applications, from the manufacture of glass to processing in computers (SiliconValley).
Silicon
Diatomaceous earth is actually made up of single-celled shells that are 150 million years old and whose skeleton is made up of almost 100% silicon and 15 other trace elements.
In naturopathy, it is considered to improve the general constitution, which is essential to the success of any treatment.
In the body, high concentrations of silicon are found in connective tissues and their derivatives, such as bones, cartilage, tendons, skin, hair, hooves, blood and lymphatic vessels, liver, kidneys and lungs.
A positive water balance guarantees the absorption of a sufficient quantity of nutrients.
It is therefore an essential element whose intake in our diet has unfortunately tended to decrease over the last 50 years!
Effect on nutrition
- As well as supplying silicon, it acts as an anti-caking agent, keeping food particles separate from each other.
This ensures optimum absorption of food, both bacterial and enzymatic.
- It prevents the consumption of sand or licking.
- It can also bind toxic substances, which can then leave the body, just as clay does.
- supports the lining of the stomach and intestine.
In daily rations
- Horses 10 to 30 grams per day
- Dogs weighing less than 20 kg 2 teaspoons

- Cats 1 teaspoon
- Kittens 1/2 teaspoon
- Chickens 5% of ration weight
- Cattle 2% of dry ration weight
- Calves 4 grams in the morning
- Pigs 2% of ration weight
- Sheep 1% of ration weight
- Goats 1% of the weight of the concentrate
Give daily for 2 to 3 months / 1 to 2 times a year. (e.g. due to the intestinal parasite cycle)
Effect
Because of its structure, diatomaceous earth binds an enormous amount of moisture and therefore has an enormous drying effect on its environment.
If you look at it under a microscope, you'll see that it's made up of all the particles of crustacean skeletons that look like shards of glass.
This means you can use it as a natural repellent against lice and other animals that can nestle in the fur or feathers of animals and often cause great discomfort.
The skin of these lice and other animals is damaged by the sharp particles and they also suffer from a chronic lack of moisture.
This is also why animals roll around in the sand when trying to get rid of these parasites.
Sand contains a lot of silicon, but the very fine structure of diatomaceous earth allows it to act more effectively and be used in a targeted way.
External use
Massage furry animals and powder the plumage of birds.
The perch and surrounding area can also be treated with this product against these parasites!
Of course, it doesn't act as violently as chemical remedies, so you'll need to repeat the treatment every few days until you see that the creatures have disappeared and the animals are no longer itchy.
Use with care
The product is not harmful, but you should avoid inhaling it or getting it in your eyes. Because of its strong drying effect, it can irritate mucous membranes when inhaled.
So it's fair to call it a multi-application product, pure in nature, with no expiry date.
